Camp Collar Shirts
It's camp collar season. Our camp shirts are a longstanding spring and summertime tradition here, and for darn good reason. With their breezy feel, heavy duty build quality and vintage visual appeal, these laidback staples are just about the perfect warm weather go-to.
What are camp shirts?
Originating as a traditional worker’s garment known as the Guayabera in 16th century Mexico, the camp collar shirt is distinguished by its short sleeves and wider collar that’s meant to be worn open. The style was popularized in the US in the ‘50s and ‘60s by Cuban immigrants arriving in Miami and New York, and to this day is sometimes referred to as a “Cuban collar” shirt. How do you style a camp collar shirt?
Camp collar shirts are designed for warmer climates and, accordingly, are usually built from lighter materials. We recommend leaving them untucked and unbuttoning the top button for an even more laid back look. While they look great over an undershirt or beneath a spring-weight jacket, the distinctive style of the camp collar shirt is more than capable of standing on its own. Pair them up with everything from linen shorts, to selvedge denim, to chinos for a spring & summer fit that you’ll be going back to year after year.
