Description
A classic, hip-length Peacoat in a hearty 24 oz British wool. The same wool the British Army used for multiple centuries. Edition of 100. The details are impressive (genuine dark horn buttons, triangular calf-leather pocket reinforcements), but the construction is what you need to pay attention to–the sweeping lapel, the in-set sleeves that rest at a slight point, and that clean felled seam running down the back. Note the military precision of the thread tension at the reinforced leather cuffs, and those sleek welt pockets. This is a celebration of spectacular wool, transposed onto an immaculate, and extremely difficult pattern. Forget heirloom quality, this coat is museum quality.
Material
The Brits know wool better than anybody, and this peacoat owes its luster to the famed Abraham Moon Mill that’s been operating in the United Kingdom since 1837. There’s a remarkable loft and structure to the wool. At 24 ounces the fabric is really substantial, but it still has a soft, buoyant quality. Comprised of over 170 years of textile tradition, it’s more than a coat, it’s a piece of history.
