Description
Up until the mid-1950s, the popular conception of denim was dominated by images of cowboys and pan-wielding prospectors. Then, in 1956, with the introduction of the first ever black denim (dubbed “The Elvis Presley Jean”) by Levi Strauss, everything changed. Ever since its rather transgressive opening act, black denim has become just as ubiquitous as its blue brother without losing its edge. Now, by popular request, it’s back in action at Taylor Stitch. The same careful construction, subdued detailing, and democratic fit that we’re known for, now available in 13oz Japanese black selvage denim. Everyone should have a pair.
Material
Though excellent denim is produced all over the world, it’s probably fair to call Japan the capital of high-quality denim manufacturing. Famous for offering unique textures and brilliant colors in a wide range of weights, denim mills across Japan have emerged as standard-bearers in what is and has long been a cherished staple of the global fashion industry. Established in the mid-1970s, Kuroki Mills has distinguished itself as not only a provider of superior denim products, but also as an industry leader in environmentally friendly manufacturing. This 13oz selvage denim is hardy, sustainably produced, and will age exquisitely with wear.
