To us, this time isn’t only marked with the rise of a global pandemic—it’s also an opportunity for us to band together in an effort to support the small businesses in our respective communities. We asked you to provide us with your favorite small businesses paired with one sentence about what we can purchase from each of them. Here are the businesses that you’ve shared with our team thus far. Wild, right? But it doesn’t have to end here. Let’s all carry on the #StandSmall spirit through continuing to look for ways to support the independent businesses that are impacted most.
We asked a few of our close friends and partners who their favorite small businesses are—
Life of Pie Pizza for the best pie in Portland.
Green Apple Books is my go to book store in the Bay Area. I love that place.
Amber Fort for the best handmade, hemp bedding out there.
For the best americano, I go with Coava every time. Definitely my favorite coffee.
I mean, obviously I have to say Allagash for beer or I’ll be in trouble.
Keller Crafted Meats are the best. The quality of their cuts is bar none.
Glass Key Photo is the best. It's my go-to for film and cameras. They've helped me become a better photographer and find my style.
I wanted to give a shout out to my friends over at Feed Sonoma. Their locally grown and sourced vegetable CSA boxes are the best.
Pine & Crane is hands down the best Taiwanese in Silver Lake. Be sure to order the spicy shrimp wontons and dan dan noodles —they won't disappoint.
For the tastiest burrito with the freshest ingredients, you have to go to Tako. I mean, it's a no brainer.
I wouldn't be where I am today without the many hours of space, caffeine, and support provided by Black Cow Coffee.
Wholesome Bakery is my go-to spot. All their stuff is good, but their 7 Layer Bars are the best.
Buon Vino is my go-to spot for grabbing a glass of wine. Their tasting room in the East Bay is the best.
There's nothing quite like a James Brand knife. I've had mine for years, and I'm confident I'll be using the very same knife for the rest of my life.
Farewell's selection of coffee and natural wine is the best in Asheville. For sure one of my favorite spots out there.
Normal Ice Cream, all day every day. The best ice cream in Salt Lake City, by far.
Hey Guys,
We can all support the small business ecosystem and get through this together!
TS is a small business—we’ve raised very little capital and essentially bootstrapped from the early days of selling custom shirts door to door. We’ve been hit by the same business slowdown many others have seen as people stockpile TP and not shirts. Go figure.
We’re here being transparent and proactive; it’s in our DNA to have you guys along for the ride. By giving you a great deal on our products in the near term, we hopefully build up some cash reserves to continue to support our staff, internal and external, while continuing to be a voice of responsibility in this industry. We’re building this business to be around in 100 years and that’s just the first thing I am trying to solve for.
The second thing. I want you to go support the people who make your community sing. There have been a lot of people who have supported TS since day one in our Bay Area community who I’m calling out in hopes of that resonating with you in your local community. I’ll be supporting Dan @ Dax Lee’s Barbershop in OAK by picking up a gift certificate for my next 5 cuts. Before Dan opened his shop he would come to our office and cut anyone’s hair who wanted it. I’ll be picking up loaves from Josey Baker @ The Mill who I can still remember riding his bike around the Mission delivering loaves with his cut off jorts. I’ll be getting my tomato soup and grilled cheese from Dave @ Outerlands who endlessly modeled for us during the early days and cooked many family holiday dinners for us when we couldn’t afford it. Everyone is in different situations and all I am saying is do what you can.
This is about us banding together as a community of small businesses. We’ll be getting this page updated with a list of all the small businesses who have been dramatically affected by the shut down.
#StandSmall
