Taylor Stitch x Alpha Industries
Reporting For Duty:
The ALS/92 + M-51 System
2021
Founded in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 1959, Alpha Industries forged its legacy on a series of innovative and iconic garments designed to meet the ever-evolving needs of the US military. A series of Department of Defense contracts spawned such legendary names as the MA-1 bomber and the long-running M-65 field jacket—pieces that not only proved to be effective combat garb but also wildly popular with civilians. Eventually, Alpha Industries saw fit to capitalize on this mainstream popularity, and in the 1970s entered the commercial market while continuing to develop new tactical gear for the DOD.
For this collaboration, we're honoring Alpha Industries' incredible history and one-of-a-kind legacy with two reimagined takes on classic silhouettes—The M-51 Field Jacket (a precursor to the M-65) and The ALS/92. While the silhouettes will be familiar to anyone with even a passing interest in military gear, we've updated their materials with an eye towards Responsibility. The M-51 Field Jacket—which ships in a bold Indigo Reverse Sateen finish that promises to patina beautifully—is cut from 100% organic cotton, while The ALS/92 in Raven features a recycled nylon shell, recycled polyester for the insulation and ribbing, and organic cotton accents. Both of these pieces shine brilliantly on their own, but—much like this collaborative effort between Taylor Stitch and Alpha Industries—they offer something truly special when working in tandem. Until next time—at ease.
