Frequently Asked
What's the lead time for a custom shirt?
From purchase to delivery, your custom shirts take 5 weeks to make. This allows enough time for cutting your unique pattern and constructing your shirt piece by piece. If you are in a time crunch, we can rush your shirt in 2 weeks for $100 or 1 week for $175 additional cost.
What is the cost for a custom shirt?
Our opening range of fabrics start at $150. This price point includes oxfords, twills, broadcloths, and other basics. The majority of our fabric collection falls between $175 and $225, but prices can get up to $350-$400 for our most luxurious Thomas Mason fabrics.
Where are your shirts produced?
We partner with Mel Gambert Shirtmakers to produce our custom shirts. Located in Newark, NJ, they are a third generation shirtmaker with a legacy dating back to 1933.
What is the process for ordering a custom shirt?
Stop by one of our stores and we'll introduce you to our fabrics and style guide in-person. The whole process of choosing fabrics, selecting styles, and getting measured takes about 30 minutes. Both locations are open from 11am-7pm everyday. For appointments, email customshirts@taylorstitch.com.
What type of style options do I have control over?
The most important decisions you’ll make during this process are fabric and collar style, which essentially set the tone for the shirt. You then choose your cuffs, front style, and pockets (if any). Smaller details include buttons, contrast stitching, monograms, and contrasting fabrics. We are here to help and guide you through the process if any of this seems daunting, as the entire process should be fun and creative for you. Please reference our Style Guide above if you’d like to learn more about the details.
Will my shirt fit perfectly when it arrives?
We are custom shirting experts at our core, so we are confident that your custom shirt will fit better than any shirt you’ve ever purchased off the rack, even if your fit requires some tweaking after your first fitting. Every once in a while we have to make minor alterations to your shirt after the fitting, that’s on us and we’ll make sure it’s done correctly. We take your fit and satisfaction seriously, and will work with you and our tailors to ensure a home run.
Can I bring you my own fabric to make a shirt?
Yes. We need 3 yards of fabric to make a shirt. The cost for this service is $225.
