Unique details like angled chest pockets, old-school yoke design, and genuine YKK snaps wouldn't look out of place in a dusty, sepia-toned photograph, but The Western's tailored cut, rugged construction, and crisp denim finish—complete with selvage accents—ensure it's ready to roll with the punches in 2020 and beyond.
Though excellent denim is produced all over the world, it’s safe to call Japan the modern-day capital of denim manufacturing. One of the standard-bearers of that legacy is none other than Nihon Menpu, which has been in operation since the 1920s. Nihon Menpu is known for producing some of the finest denim around, and their well-earned reputation is on full display with the phenomenal 8-oz selvage denim we used for the latest iteration of The Western Shirt. It looks fantastic right out of the box, but after a couple of wears and washes you'll really start to see why Japanese denim is in such high demand.
